New Mexico Launches Truth Commission to Probe Epstein’s Zorro Ranch

(MENAFN) State lawmakers in New Mexico have expanded their inquiries into Jeffrey Epstein’s activities, establishing a bipartisan “Truth Commission” to examine allegations that the convicted sex offender’s crimes extended to his Zorro Ranch.

The four-member panel will investigate reports of sexual harassment and other offenses allegedly committed at the desert property, which Epstein acquired in 1993 and which was sold in 2023 following his death in 2019, according to officials.

Recent documents from the US Department of Justice include an anonymous 2019 email claiming that two foreign women were strangled during violent sexual encounters and buried near the ranch on the orders of Epstein and “Madam G,” commonly understood to refer to Ghislaine Maxwell. New Mexico’s Land Commissioner has called for both federal and state authorities to examine these allegations.

Among the released files is correspondence referencing a reproduction of Cornelis van Haarlem’s 1591 painting *The Massacre of the Innocents*, described in one note as portraying a scene where babies are being killed. Epstein reportedly commissioned the large-scale copy for display at the ranch entrance.

The 7,600-acre estate, located roughly 35 miles (56 kilometers) south of Santa Fe in the desert, has long been linked to rumors and survivor accounts of abuse. However, federal investigations have yet to fully address the scope of activities that took place there.
